The Southwest Missouri Code Officials chapter of the International Code Council is pleased to offer this educational seminar. SMCO wishes to invite all interested parties to join us.  Registration fees include handouts, and certificates of completion citing 7 contact hours = 0.7 CEUs (Design Professionals must self report).

Course Presented by Russell Thornburg - With over 30 years of experience, Russell Thornburg brings to the classroom first-hand knowledge of all aspects of the building industry from the basics of home ownership, to general

contracting, to field inspection and plans examiner.  For more than twenty years he was self-employed as a licensed general contractor, and has 11 years of experience working for municipalities in the state of Minnesota.  During that time he began teaching Building Inspection Technology programs for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, as well as Continuing Education Seminars for local ICC chapters.  He currently works as Plans Examiner for Johnson County KS and writes, develops code and administration seminars and presents these programs for various organizations, including municipalities, institutes, ICC chapters, Building Associations, and industries throughout the United States, and is an active ICC instructor.


Course Description:   “IRC Changes from 2012 to 2015”

This course will guide participants through the changes that have occurred from the 2012 to the 2015 IRC. Upon completion, they will be able to identify and explain the major differences, as well as understand and apply the intent of those changes. The seminar will: Identify the most significant differences, discuss the background behind many of these code changes, identify changes in organization and code requirements, and provide the participant with an understanding of the intent of the changes and how to apply it to their everyday work


December Business Meeting:  We will hold our annual membership meeting to request election of SMCO officers for 2015. All positions are available.  All Board members attend all seminars, for free, for the term of their office.
