COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The goal of this seminar is to familiarize building
officials, fire officials, plans examiners, inspectors, design professionals,
contractors, and others in the construction industry with many of the important
changes in the 2018 International Residential Code® (IRC®). The major changes
to the 2018 IRC will be presented. Participants will discuss the changes,
reasons for the changes, and take part in knowledge review activities.
Information presented will allow participants to apply these new code
requirements to design, plan review, and/or inspection. The seminar uses the
publication, Significant Changes to the International Residential Code®, 2018
Edition
Instructor: Russell Thornburg:
With over 31 years of experience, Russell Thornburg brings
to the classroom first-hand knowledge of many aspects of the building
industry from the basics of home ownership, to general contracting, to field
inspection and plans examiner. For
more than twenty years he was self-employed as a licensed general contractor,
and has over 17 years of experience working for municipalities in the state
of Minnesota and Kansas. During this time,
he began teaching Building Inspection Technology programs for Minnesota State
Colleges and Universities, as well as Continuing Education Seminars from
around the country and ICC chapters.
After a short stint serving as Program Director for Johnson County
Contractor Licensing of KS he has returned to Texas and now writes and
develops code seminars and presents these programs for various organizations,
including municipalities, institutes, ICC chapters, Home Builders
Associations, and industries throughout the United States.
